4th India International Science Festival to be held in Lucknow
The fourth edition of the India International Science Festival (IISF) will be held in Lucknow. The exact dates of the event would be announced at a later stage, accroding to an official release from the Ministry of Science & Technology. A first ‘preparatory meeting’ of the 4th IISF was held in the National Capital wherein it was unanimously decided to hold the Festival in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh.
The Meeting was chaired by Union Minister for Science & Technology, Environment, Forest & Climate Change and Earth Sciences, Dr. Harsh Vardhan. Officials of Ministries of Science and Technology, Earth Sciences and DG, CSIR and representatives of Vijnana Bharti, the partner organisation for the festival, were among those who attended the meeting.
It may be noted that the 1st IISF was held at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) New Delhi in December 2015. The mega S&T expo attracted more than 300,000 people including the participation of more than 3000 young scientists from all over India. Also, Vijnana Bharti (VIBHA) secured a place in the ‘Guinness Book World Record’ for their successful conduct of the ‘Largest Practical Science Lesson’ attended by 2000 students from prestigious schools of Delhi.
Similarly, the second Festival was successfully held at CSIR-National Physical Laboratory, New Delhi in December 2016 which had showcased Indian achievements in various fields of science and technology. The third in the series was held in October 2017 in Chennai.
IISF conducts various programmes such as Special Thematic Session on “DEEP OCEAN RESEARCH”, Science & Technology Ministers Conclave, Sensitizing Youth to Flagship Programs of Government, Science Village: ‘Parliament To Panchayat’, National Meet on ‘Social organisations and Institutions’, Women Scientist & Entrepreneur’s conclave, National Science Teachers’ Workshop (Focusing North-East States), Industry Academia Interaction, Mega Science, Technology & Industry Expo, India International Science Film Festival, Grassroots Innovators’ Summit, National Start-up Summit, National Level Competitions, Outreach Programme (Open days), Satellite Seminars, among others.
