Chandigargh Artists draw connoisseurs at Lalit Kala Academy
The legacy of unique art works of the Chandigarh Artists continues at prestigious Lalit Kala Academy in New Delhi. It is with a great sense of joy that the Chandigarh Lalit Kala Academy (CLKA) has put together an exhibition of the senior as well as upcoming artists of Le Corbusier’s city to be showcased in Delhi.
The reason for the exuberance is that the national capital has become the centre of the art activity that offers exposure, expansion and energy to artists from all over the country to move to the next step of their creative journey.
This is not to say that the works of the city artists are unknown at the national level. Many artists who blossomed in the city or were groomed in the Government College of Art, Chandigarh, have been making an effort to hold shows in cities like Delhi, Kolkata and Mumbai.
Several others made their homes in metropolis or even abroad and have earned recognition for their talent. Artists living in the city have been winning awards and honours too at the national level. But there are many whose works remain unseen beyond their habitat because not all artists are good organisers and the younger ones do not have the means to hold shows outside.
The dominant colours of grays and reds, as well as the blessing of open spaces and gardens somehow find their work into art because environment influences art. So the uniquely own stamp of Chandigarh in the arena of art cannot be ignored.
The CLKA invites lovers of art and experts to get a feel of the work that has been done in the city over several decades evaluate it but most of all enjoy it. With this the exhibition is thrown open to the viewers.
