Unveiling India’s Export Potential in Food Processing & Hospitality
ITPO’s Maiden ‘AHAAR’ Mumbai Edition Commences at CIDCO Centre, Vashi,
The first specialized B2B show of- its- kind in western region, AAHAR Mumbai2017, the International Food and Hospitality Fair (October 11 – 14,2017) was inaugurated by Shri Vijay Waghmare, IAS, Managing Director, Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation at CIDCO Exhibition Centre, Vashi, Navi Mumbai, today. Present on the occasion were Shri J. Gunasekeran, General Manager, India Trade Promotion Organization (ITPO) and other Government officials, participants and media persons. ‘Shri Vijay Waghmare, MD, MTDC complimented ITPO for its maiden effort for hosting Mumbai Aahar edition and recorded his comments in the visitor’s book “It was a privilege to be part of Aahar Mumbai edition of CIDCO. The diversity of exhibitors is great and the event has been organized meticulously. I wish ITPO officers all the best for all the future endeavors”.
ITPO aims to replicate a regional version of ‘AAHAR’ as giant Delhi trade fair, to encourage trade and development in these sectors which are essential to the government’s plans to generate industry and employment in interiors regions. It assumes a special significance at a time when the Indian economy is on a transition mode and poised to enter into a new era of a unified Goods and Services Tax (GST). The fair has evolved as one of the most important platform in South – Asia for understanding and sourcing the new innovations technologies, products and development in a fast-growing food processing as well as hospitality sector. Creating a sync. with ‘Make in India’ campaign, the event marks with setting-up of an exclusive ‘Investment Pavilion’ to unveil vast investment opportunities in hospitality sector.
The fair has been organized with support of the Ministry of Food Processing Industry of India and apex bodies namely Agricultural & Processed Food Products Export Development Authority(APEDA), Association of Resource Companies for Hospitality Industry of India(ARCHII), Hotel and Restaurant Equipment Manufacturers Association of India(HOTREMAI), All India Food Processors Association(AIFPA) and Food & Hospitality Support Association of India(FHSAI) for their continuous support in holding the AAHAR series of events.
The fair features a wide range of food products, machinery and equipment from around 100 participants. Prominent among those are Coconut Development Board, Tourism Corporation of Gujarat, Nessle India, Godrej Winterhalter India , Cothas Coffee, Blue Star, Rockwell Industries, Frootel India, Adani Wilmar and FSSAI.
AAHAR Mumbai also features symposiums, workshops and seminars focused solely on the small-to-mid-market hotel & resort category (1-3 star), which comprises 90% of industry. These include :two-day symposium on ‘Invest West’(October 11 & 12, 2017) for potential hotel owners-operators and seminar on ‘Ladies in Hospitality’( October13,2017).
Apart from opening new avenues of joint ventures, the fair offers an excellent plat form for buyers from India and abroad to interact with exhibitors and promote trade. AAHAR intends to empower the small scale sector, which is strong component of Indian economy, due to its inherent ability to promote exports and generate employment opportunities.
