Renewable Energy India (REI) Expo: Shaping the Future of Clean Energy
Government and Business Partnership Conclave held in New Delhi
NITI Aayog, United Nations in India and the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) organised a ‘Government and Business Partnership Conclave’ today at Pravasi Bharatiya Kendra, New Delhi. The conclave focussed on the interrelated sectors of water, energy and green industry.
Objectives of the Conclave were to facilitate deliberation on key thematic areas and issues around Water, Energy and Green Industry in the Indian context;
Generate clarity about the responsibilities and contributions of businesses and industries towards implementation of SDGs, particularly in the context of selected theme areas and sustainability issues involved; Highlight best practices from businesses and industries, and explore strategies and ways forward to achieve the related SDG targets; Identify opportunities for partnership between the business sector and the Government at various levels in sectoral/intersectoral areas of water, energy and green industry.
The Conclave had three technical sessions covering sectors of Water, Energy and Green Industry chaired by Secretaries of Government of India.Participants included Senior Central and State Government officials, CEOs and senior executives of industries in the relevant sectors, experts and resource organisations and other related stakeholders.
The Conclave was inaugurated by Raj Kumar Singh, Minister of State (Independent Charge), Power and New and Renewable Energy, Government of India. Amitabh Kant, CEO, NITI Aayog addressed the inaugural session along with Yuri Afanasiev, the United Nations Resident Coordinator in India. In addition, Rakesh Bharti Mittal, President CII, and Vice Chairman, Bharti Enterprises Ltd. and Chandrajit Banerjee, Director General, CII were present at the inaugural session.
