IAEE and TPOP Team to Offer Workplace and Safety Training
The International Association of Exhibitions and Events (IAEE) has entered into a partnership agreement with The Power Of Preparedness, LLC (TPOP) to offer customized safety and security training to the exhibitions and events industry. The comprehensive course includes chapters on workplace violence recognition, behavioral indicators, situational awareness, recognizing gunfire, surviving an active shooter event and response to injury.
Students enrolled in the IAEE Certified in Exhibition Management (CEM) Learning Program in the U.S. will be required to participate in the TPOP course – offered at no additional cost – while taking the Security, Risk & Crisis Management module. CEM candidates outside of the U.S. will be offered the online course at a discounted rate. However, they will not be required to complete the course in order to earn their designation.
IAEE members interested in the TPOP course will be offered a discount on the training. In addition, with the goal of raising the industry security baseline and enhancing the preparedness of all employees, corporate packages will be offered in which member companies can purchase a number of “seats” for employees to participate in the training.
TPOP’s faculty, comprised of nationally recognized safety and security experts, behavioral scientists, and eLearning designers, have created best-in-class digital courseware that provides learners with the foundational preparedness and response protocols needed to survive any type of workplace violence, including an active shooter situation. “Think and Survive: Workplace Violence and Active Shooter Preparedness” is a 60-minute comprehensive online course that teaches the latest proven techniques to enhance personal and corporate preparedness and response to mitigate and survive a life-threatening challenge.
“This collaboration stems from our work with the Exhibitions and Meetings Safety and Security Initiative (EMSSI),” said IAEE President and CEO David DuBois, adding, “The additional training geared specifically to our industry is an important added element to addressing the need for guidelines and best practices regarding safety and security at our events and in our venues.”
“IAEE is focused on helping our members prepare for current industry landscapes. We felt it was imperative to incorporate an elevated level of education into our designation program, as well as offer it to all our members,” adds David.
