Kala Mahotsav being held in Ahmedabad – 20-28 Jan 2018
The Kala Mahotsav is currently underway in Ahmedabad-Haat from 20th to 28th January 2018. The event is organized by JCARC (Jagannath Cultural Academy and Research Centre) in partnership of with Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, Indext-C and Commissioner of Geology and Mining.
More than 100 national award winning artisans from 15 states of India like Odisha, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Jammu and Kashmir, etc. are participating in the Kala Mahotsav – a Handicrafts, Handlooms and Stone Carving Festival. They are showcasing their work and products in various areas like paintings, art work, handicraft products and handloom products.
JCARC is a trust and society created for development of art, culture, handicraft, handloom, spiritual development, etc. The NGO also runs a skill development centre recognized by the Government of India. So far JCARC has trained more than 2,000 youths who have been absorbed by the local industry.
Also, a stone carving festival is also being held at JCARC Centre in Adalaj. The stone carving festival is sponsored by the Government of Gujarat. Live demonstration are being held by by 15 master stone carving sculptors from different parts of India. Various cultural programmes are also being performed by artists from Odisha and Gujarat every day in evening from 07:00 pm to 09:30 pm.
