Minister of Commerce & Industry visits Pragadi Maidan to review the Devt. project
14 July 2020: Minister of Commerce & Industry Piyush Goyal visited Pragati Maidan on 10th July 2020 to review the ongoing project of International Exhibition-cum-Convention Center (IECC). He was accompanied by Hardeep Singh Puri, Minister of State for Commerce & Industry, Civil Aviation & Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs (independent charge), P. K. Sinha, Principal Advisor to the Prime Minister, Dr. Anup Wadhawan, Commerce Secretary, L.C. Goyal, Chairman & Managing Director, India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO), Vikram Doraiswami, Additional Secretary, Ministry of External Affairs and Rajesh Agrawal, ED, ITPO alongwith other senior government officials. The CMD briefed the Minister about the progress of the work.
ITPO’s ongoing mega project of redevelopment of its landmark exhibition ground “Pragati Maidan” into a state-of-the-art International Exhibition-cum-Convention Centre is progressing albeit work delayed due to COVID-19 outbreak. IECC is expected to be one-stop venue for international and domestic events, summits, conferences and high level ministerial meetings.
Meanwhile, for the year 2019-20, ITPO contributed an amount of Rs.50 lakhs towards “Swacch Bharat Kosh”. A Cheque was handed over on July 09, 2020 to Rajeev Ranjan, Administrator, Ministry of Finance, North Block, New Delhi by Rajesh Agrawal, ED, ITPO. ITPO has been contributing towards “Swachh Bharat Kosh” each year under the CSR activities.
