Quito increases capacity for meetings & events up to 70%
23 July 2021: Quito is officially having less strict Covid-19 related restrictions and is looking for the recovery of the meetings industry. As part of the economic recovery plan, local authorities announced that as of July 6, 2021, certain businesses will be able to increase their capacity from 50% to 70%.
During the pandemic, the city of Quito established a strict capacity-related restrictions in all private and public spaces, but as of July 6, shopping centers can increase the capacity up to 65%, supermarkets, banks, cinemas, and theaters up to 50% and restaurants up to 70%.
Social distancing, use of a face masks and other Covid-19 measures are still strongly recommended. Bars, night clubs and similar establishments remain closed until further notice.
On the other hand, venues such as auditoriums, convention centers and ballrooms may have several events simultaneously, if there are physical walls separating one event from the other.
With this step Quito is once again ready to receive all visitors and, as part of the economic recovery plan, Quito is getting ready for a return of meetings, congresses and events in the near future with all the necessary safety measures. Visitors must still present their proof of vaccination or negative PCR test upon entering the country.
