Sri Lanka 2nd among the best 20 Countries & Islands in the World
18 November 2020: Italy topped among the 20 Countries in the World: Readers’ Choice Awards 2020, an initiative of Condé Nast (CN) Traveler. In a survey, CN’s readers ranked their favorite countries around the world. And Sri Lanka has been ranked 2nd in the list where as India just managed to be 20th in the list. Other favourite countries include: Portugal, Japan, Greece, Indonesia, Thailand, South Africa, Vietnam, Mexico, Ireland, Bhutan, Jamaica, Peru, Malaysia, Colombia, Israel, Turkey and New Zealand.
Sri Lanka also ranked among the Best Islands in the World as per CN’s Readers’ Choice. This year, CN broken survey by region: the best in Asia, Australia and the South Pacific, Caribbean and the Atlantic, Europe, North America, and best in the rest of the world. Sri Lanka, with several sacred sites, crystal blue waters, and picturesque green tea estates, offers myriad charms. The island nation is full of post- and pre-colonial history in capital city Colombo, and eight UNESCO World Heritage sites. And Tea lovers can stay at Thotalagala, a seven-suite hotel near Dambatenne, the world’s most famous tea estate, planted in 1890 by Sir Thomas Lipton.
