Strong product exhibits, visitor quality and seminar themes accelerate Automotive Engineering Show Chennai
With Chennai being a hotbed of automotive manufacturing, the Automotive Engineering Show attracted 78 exhibitors and 3,069 visitors, decision makers and trade professionals looking for smart manufacturing tools and trends in IT and Industry 4.0 at its recently concluded the 11th edition in the city. The high-tech appeal of the event with live demonstrations of robotic technologies, 3D printing, automated manufacturing, surface painting, metrology and R&D software solutions along with the insightful seminars touching the most pertinent industry challenges ensured that visitors left with the right insights and tools that can drive the automotive shop floor of the future.
Continued support from the Government of Tamil Nadu, strong product exhibits, visitor quality and future-oriented seminar themes reinforced the business effectiveness of the platform. Mr ChandraKumar T, Assistant General Manager-FM Maintenance, Daimler India Commercial Vehicles Pvt Ltd shared: “Our purpose of visiting was to explore the latest in manufacturing technologies especially 3D printer, paint disposing units and tools. We have invited some companies to our manufacturing plants who will jointly help us with these solutions. This is a good platform as the information is readily available here and we will definitely come back for the next edition.”
While visitors were impressed with the technology demonstrations, exhibitors were pleased with the increasing number of leads and inquiries each day. Happy with the response garnered for Tal Brabo, India’s first articulated Industrial Robot at the fair, Mr Sandeep Dawkhar, General Manager-Robotics, Tooling & System Integration, Tal Manufacturing Solutions Ltd shared: “We have met visitors from OEMs and tier one suppliers and we will be initiating deals with system integrators here. Our main objective of participation in Chennai is to meet local customers and we are receiving a positive response. We will definitely continue our participation at AES.”
Another exhibitor who reported business success was Mr Himanshu Jadhav, Director, Eepos India who shared: “We cater to customers from the automotive industry such as Daimler, Royal Enfield, Ford and Renault-Nissan and have had them visit us here and spend quality time at the booth to see our newly launched solutions for their business. In fact we have met all our customers from South India this time. Our objective of participation was to market our products and brand and we have achieved it! It makes sense to launch new products here and we will definitely like to participate again at the next edition.”
Event packed with innovations and new perspectives
A high level of business networking was also seen at the seminars where attendees constructively absorbed the latest insights, new perspectives and technology developments in the sector. The three-day programme tactically touched subjects of current industry relevance through a workshop on Surface Engineering, a knowledge seminar on Industry 4.0 and IIoT and a session addressing challenges post GST implementation.
One of the key panellists from the session on how digitalisation impacts manufacturing, Mr Sundarraj Sakthivel, General Manager, Ford India, shared: “Digital is going to be a way of life. Big opportunities are in store for data analysis, and the set-up is already available. The industry is looking for answers on digital convergence at AES. So this was a very relevant platform where professionals could learn on how to cope up with the changes, how much to invest and what is the way forward.”.
Platform draws continued support for upcoming edition
While the edition drew strong backing from the local government and industry associations, industry leaders believe this is an innovation-led platform and will continue to support the event in the coming years. Mr Vijay A. Pankhawala, Deputy Director, Business Development & Corporate Planning, ARAI said: “We have a long association with AES and it is good to be back. I see new trends here and it is always a good learning. Solutions showcased by Bollhoff, Carl Zeiss, Nikon are really innovative, I am personally very inquisitive to learn more about these and the live demos help understand this better. It is about time that we see AES growing and bringing in new players and we will continue to extend our support for this endeavour as we share the same objectives.”
