24th India-Italy Technology Summit held in New Delhi
The 24th India-Italy Technology Summit was held at Hotel Taj Palace, Delhi on 29 and 30th Ocober, 2018. This year focuses on seven key sectors identified jointly by both the countries which include aerospace, cleantech, cultural heritage, education, healthcare, ICT and renewables. Italy was the Partner Country hence a large Italian delegation led by Prime Minister / Cabinet Minister of Italy will be attended the event.
The Confederation of Indian Industry recognised the importance of technology 23 years back and organised the 1st CII Technology Summit and Technology Platform in the year of 1995 to facilitate global technology collaboration. After a few successful yearly summits, CII got the privilege of having the Department of Science & Technology, Government of India as the partner since 2004. Yearly Technology Summit benefitted immensely the Indian industry and academic & research institutions in forging collaborations with global partners, including policy making that triggered private sector’s investment in R&D and technology significantly.
Many collaborative projects were already going on between India and Italy and more than 100 scientists were working together. Two years ago, 23 new projects were launched, showing intense strong productive useful cooperation in a very short time. Key areas he identified for cooperation included clean energy, energy efficiency, life sciences, and space.
